Does China squeeze IP out of foreign CleanTech companies? by Justin Blows

According to this report, foreign carmakers in China have to give up their trade secrets such as battery technology or electric motors to their new partners. This “sharing” clause was one of the main reasons that Toyota stopped the Chinese rollout of the Prius back in March.

I have not looked into this issue in detail, so I can’t confirm it. But, this sort of thing is definitely something to look out for if doing business in China.
