Has the move away from coal started? by Justin Blows

According to this report, in countries like the US and Europe there is a strong trend away from the burning of coal for electricity generation. The new fuel of choice is natural gas, the burning of which apparently emits less greenhouse gas, sulfur and mercury. It is reported that it is cheaper to convert to gas fired power generation than put pollution control equipment on coal fired power stations.
