Run-of-river hydro by Justin Blows

Here is an interesting report on run-of-river hydro, a way of generating electricity from rivers without building massive dams.

In this approach, a weir is used instead of a large dam, and the natural fall of the land utilised. Environmental impact is apparently greatly reduced compared to conventional hydro.
