PUMA gets sustainable packaging by Justin Blows

According to this report, PUMA spent a lot of time developing a more sustainable packaging for shoes. PUMA is certainly making the most of it, including a funky movie.

I am sure that it would be protected, providing PUMA with a unique and highly visible differentiator from its competitors.

But how sustainable is it?  I can’t really tell, but the only real differentiator from a standard shoe box, as far as I can tell, is the replacement of a paper box lid with a plastic bag.  PUMA does, however, clarify how it is green – by reducing consumption of resources.  Thus, PUMA may not  be in danger of being seen as greenwashing and falling foul of the Trade Practices Act.
